Speech & Language Therapy
Speech and language therapy helps children build the skills they need to communicate clearly, understand others, express their thoughts, and participate confidently at home, in school, and with peers.
Therapy can support speech sound development, vocabulary, grammar, social communication, and higher-level language skills that are essential for learning.
At Honeydrop Speech Therapy, sessions are designed to be engaging, supportive, and individualized to each child.
Therapy is:
Neurodiversity-affirming, honoring each child’s unique communication style and strengths
Child-led and interest-based, using your child’s passions to make learning meaningful and motivating
Multisensory, incorporating visual supports, movement, games, and hands-on activities to strengthen learning
Family-centered, with practical strategies you can use in everyday routines
By building on what your child already does well, therapy supports lasting progress and greater confidence in communication.
Literacy Therapy
Literacy therapy goes beyond traditional reading tutoring by addressing the underlying language skills that support reading, spelling, and writing.
Because reading is fundamentally a language-based process, difficulties with phonological awareness, vocabulary, grammar, comprehension, and written expression can all impact a child’s reading development.
At Honeydrop Speech Therapy, reading intervention is provided by a licensed speech-language pathologist with advanced training in literacy education.
We target both oral and written language in an integrated way, helping children develop the foundational skills they need to become confident readers and writers.
Sessions are:
Language-based, targeting the speech and language skills that support literacy development
Structured and evidence-based, with individualized instruction in phonological awareness, decoding, spelling, comprehension, and writing
Neurodiversity-affirming, honoring each child’s learning profile and building on their strengths
Child-led and interest-based, using meaningful topics and engaging materials to keep children motivated
Multisensory, incorporating visual supports, movement, and hands-on activities to deepen learning
Family-centered, with practical strategies to support progress at home
This whole-language approach is especially helpful for children with dyslexia, reading comprehension difficulties, spelling challenges, and written language weaknesses. Rather than simply practicing school assignments, reading therapy identifies and addresses the root causes of reading and writing difficulties to create lasting growth and confidence. ALL THERAPY IS BASED ON THE SCIENCE OF READING.
